In last Sunday’s sermon we were reminded again of the importance of not becoming isolated and connecting into community. It is one of the many wonderful characteristics of the church, a family of believers.
The Apostle Paul instructs the church in the book of Romans 12:15 “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” As we gather together we are able to share the journey of life with our brothers and sisters in Christ, delighting in the good times, and comforting in the harder times, by supporting and encouraging one another. Small groups are one great way to connect in, meeting together, spending time in God’s Word, in prayer and in fellowship. A new FABS (Female Adult Bible Study Group) will be starting up in the coming weeks. We also have Kids Church, Youth and Young Adults all starting up again next week as the new school term begins, all such powerful tools to find a place for our young people to connect in and build strong, healthy friendships.
This Sunday we are looking forward to hosting a guest preacher, Dr. Garth Eichorn who has dedicated many years of his life to the important work of Street Chaplaincy. Lastly, we are in need of a new place to store our church trailer, we are very grateful to Manya Wilms who has let us store the trailer in her garage for the last couple of years. If you have a spare car space in your garage and would be willing to help out in this way please could you contact Reinhard Prins [email protected]
I always find it fascinating to see how God is at work all over the globe through his people. Even a small snapshot of those who are part of our church is a testament to that. This week we welcome Pastor Jaco Classen to the pulpit. Jaco will be wrapping up his time at our Kalgoorlie church plant at the end of October to accept a call to Tasmania. We are grateful for his years of faithful service and work in Kalgoorlie, and look forward having him share at Grace.
Pastor Joe and Cecile are currently away in Brisbane to present the Genesis Music Project at the Creation Ministries Conference, and at two of our sister churches in Queensland, please keep them in your prayers as they minister on the east coast. We also received an update from Tarbie van Tonder as she embarks on her mission work in Malaysia, they have a week of intensive leadership training next week. We join her in praying that God would be at work in the hearts of the participants.
We are also thankful for the work that takes place in our daily lives and communities. The faithful meeting of the family in small groups or in fellowship for a meal or a coffee, praying for one another, helping out a friend in need. It is a wonderful blessing to be a part of the church family.
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
